Stephan Zouras Files Class Certification Motion for Bob Rohrman Auto Group Managers

On July 14, 2014 Stephan Zouras, LLP filed a motion seeking class action on behalf of General Managers, F & I Managers, New and Used Car Sales Managers and General Sales Managers of the Bob Rohrman Auto Group.  Plaintiffs allege the defendants, who operate several auto dealerships in the Chicagoland area, made illegal deductions in violation of the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act..  Plaintiffs are seeking recovery of lost wages for the past 10 years, plus 2% per month interest on the deductions made.  

Court Certifies Unpaid Overtime Class Action for Chiro One Wellness CentersTechnicians and Assistants

Stephan Zouras currently represents Chiropractic Technicians (CTs) and Chiropractic Assistants (CAs) who work or worked for Chiro One Wellness Centers (Chiro One).  In a recent ruling by the United States District Court, the judge certified a class of employees seeking unpaid overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Illinois Minimum Wage Law.  This means all individuals who worked for Chiro One as a CT or CA between April 27, 2007 and December 17, 2012 can join the case seeking unpaid wages and unpaid overtime.  Specifically, the plaintiffs allege Chiro One misclassified them as “exempt” to deprive them from earned overtime pay. 

Chicago Cab Drivers Sue Cab Companies for Misclassifying Drivers as Independent Contractors

The law firms Stephan Zouras, LLP and Lichten & Liss-Riordan, P.C. represent Chicago taxi drivers in a lawsuit seeking to recover unpaid wages and improper deductions.  The taxi drivers allege they were misclassified as independent contractors instead of employees, which exclude them from minimum wage and overtime protections under Illinois wage law.  Instead, the taxi drivers are required to pay fees, operating expenses, airport taxes, and oftentimes insurance payments in order to work.   The case includes all Chicago taxi drivers who over the last 10 years have driven for one of the four main Chicago cab companies (Carriage Cab, Yellow Cab, Flash Cab, or Dispatch Taxi) and have had to pay fees in order to work as taxi drivers.

What is a transvaginal mesh implant?
A transvaginal mesh is a surgically-implanted medical device used to support weakened pelvic floor muscles.  Other names associated with a transvaginal mesh include vaginal mesh, pelvic mesh or pelvic sling. 
When is it used?
A transvaginal mesh is used to treat Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) and Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI).  These are conditions that sometimes occur after pelvic surgery, pregnancy and childbirth.  The device is intended to alleviate the pain associated with these conditions.

What is Mirena?
Mirena is an intrauterine birth control device (IUD) that is inserted into the uterine wall by a medical professional.  Once in place the IUD releases a low dose of levonorgestrel, which is a synthetic progestin hormone.  The hormone is absorbed by the uterus to prevent pregnancy and when working correctly, the Mirena IUD can last up to five years.

When do complications arise?
When the Mirena IUD migrates from its original insertion point, problems can occur.  Once dislodged the device may puncture the uterus, damage organs, cause infection or imbed in a woman’s body requiring surgical removal.

Chicago, IL  - On April 9, 2014 the United States District Court of Central Illinois entered a $12.2M  judgment against Jeffrey Parsons, owner of THR & Associates and Treasure Hunters Roadshow.  The court issued judgment in favor of a class of approximately 150 plaintiffs, represented by Stephan Zouras, LLP.  The large sum represents unpaid overtime wages and liquidated damages due to those employees who opted-in to the case.
